All I want for Christmas is….stationery?
Posted by Chris Leonard-Morgan
If this week’s visit to the Spirit of Christmas exhibition at London Olympia is anything to go by, a lot of stationery will be finding its way next month into Christmas stockings and under the tree. All beautifully wrapped, naturally!
A good number of busy stands were selling stationery including Two Little Boys, Milly Green, Julie Bell, Lollipop Designs, Nancy & Betty, Cambridge Imprint, NPW, The Journal Shop and Tinc.
It was good to catch up with Sally Page of Plooms Pens who does a lot to promote the importance of writing by hand and also to meet Chrissie Probert-Jones of Eatsleepdoodle who is understandably still very excited by her company’s coup in supplying a special doodle pencil case to the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
What cheered and pleasantly surprised me most was the level of activity on stands supplying personalised notecards and social stationery, especially for children. I overheard a number of mothers saying they wanted to encourage their children to write letters and cards, particularly to say thank you.
The message is getting through that writing still matters!
